Pancake day, or Shrove Tuesday, is a traditional feast day before the start of Lent on Ash Wednesday.

Shrove Tuesday always falls 40 days before Easter Sunday. It was the last opportunity to use up eggs and fats in the kitchen. 

In some towns in Great Britain there are Pancake races. People throw pancakes in the air and race at the same time. Of course they eat lots of pancakes,too. 

6th graders
