We all know that Thanksgiving Day is  the American national holiday, always coming the fourth Thursday in November. Let us see some historical points about Thanksgiving Day.

A long time ago, in December 1619, after a long voyage on the ship "The Mayflower", a group of English settlers known as pilgrims, got to Plymouth, Massachusetts. They set up the colony. About half the members of the colony the winter killed. The Indians helped the rest to survive the harsh winter. They thought them how to farm, hunt and fish in the New World. So, the pilgrims had a dinner party to celebrate their first harvest. They invited the Indians to join them. The celebration lasted for three days. Later, Abraham Lincoln, the American president, was the first president to declare Thanksgiving as the national holiday. oday, a lot of parades are held all over the country.The most famous is Macy"s Parade- on Fifth Avenue in New-York. American families have the traditional lunch: roasted turkey, pumpkin pie, corn...They enyoj the  food for Thanksgiving Day!
