St Valentin  lived in Rome during the third century. At that time, Rome was ruled by an emperor Claudius.
Valentine did not like him. Claudius wanted to have a big army. He expected single men to fight in the wars. He had a crazy idea, not to allow any more marrigies. As Valentine was the priest, he decided to marry couples secretly, what made Claudius very furious!
Valentine was caught and thrown into the jail. His punishment was the death!
So, the day before he died he left the note: " Love from Valentine!"
Every day on this date / February 14th/ people remember what he wrote and celebrate the day of love.
Love cannot be beaten - love cannot die - it is gonna live for ever!
